If you intend to visit Mauritius, be ready to indulge in an array of water sports and activities. There are definitely way more than six water activities in Mauritius but these are the ones that I was interested in during my holiday.

  1. Parasailing
  2. Undersea Walk
  3. Tube Ride
  4. Paddle Boat
  5. Kayaking
  6. Catamaran Cruise

1. PARASAILING

Parasailing is first on the list because it had always been on my bucket list. I went to a beach in Belle Mare to parasail. It’s a very safe activity because you are attached to the boat the whole time. You get strapped in, hooked to the sail and you are good to go.  The view from the top was amazing and I plan to do it again but first, I need to skydive.

2. UNDERSEA WALK

Out of all the activities, this was a bit scary but I didn’t chicken out thank goodness. Yes, I walked underwater even though I cannot swim. We were given walking shoes and taken through the safety instructions. We were told to communicate through hand signals and right before we went into the water, a big and very heavy helmet was placed on our heads. I was part of a team of four people and as soon as we were all in water, we started walking. I was a bit wobbly but it was so beautiful seeing all the fishes. The best part was when we fed them and they all came around us.

3. TUBE RIDE

I chose to do this is because of all the movies I have seen with scenes with tube rides. It’s really as bumpy as it seems and there was a lot of screaming too. It was a short ride though and I wanted more but overall, it was fun.

4. PADDLE BOAT RIDE

I had never seen a paddle boat before and the only reason I got in it was out of curiosity. I hotel I stayed at, Radisson Blu Azuri had a list of free water activities for the guests and it was one of them. As soon as I secured my life jacket (very necessary), we sat and started paddling. Moving on a paddle boat is easy but it is also a lot of work. If you don’t paddle, the boat doesn’t move and it can get tiring. What I loved most about the paddle boat is that you can paddle backward too.

5. KAYAKING

Just like the paddle boat, kayaking also involves a lot of work but this time, with your arms. A kayak is a lot like a canoe and it was fun using it to move across water. Being in the middle of the blue ocean makes you appreciate nature and how wonderful the world is. It was also one of the free activities the hotel offered.

6. CATAMARAN CRUISE

You can’t visit Mauritius and not sail on a Catamaran. There are several types of catamaran cruises in Mauritius(full day, sunset & dinner, overnight) that offer various activities which include snorkeling, scuba diving, swimming with dolphins, fishing, whale watching, etc. It’s a good way to see the West Coast, engage in water activities, relax and sunbath. If you’re traveling in a group, set aside a day for a Catamaran cruise.

Thanks for reading.

Which of these activities is on your to-do list?
