Places in Lagos| Nómaada

Nómaada is a Latin American and Asian fusion restaurant located in Victoria Island, Lagos, that began operations in June 2025. As the name suggests, Nómaada was set up by a few nomads who came together to blend Lagos, Lima, and Tokyo into one vibrant space. It is described as a Nikkei restaurant, a concept that combines Japanese techniques with Peruvian influences, and it is one of the first of its kind in West Africa.

I really wanted to stop by Nómaada last year, but that didn’t happen. Finally, I went for a late lunch in January 2026 with my friend, and here’s how it went.

AMBIENCE

Nómaada sits on a large plot of land in the heart of Victoria Island. There is space for days. A lot of outdoor seating with large screens and a bar, giving Cilantro vibes, and also a big indoor space spread across two levels. Seating options range from high stools by the bar to single seats and booth seating.

The colours are vibrant, with shades of green, brown, gold, and beige. The space is richly decorated with greenery and striking art pieces that truly bring it to life. I especially loved the grass on the ceiling design. I felt like I had been teleported somewhere else throughout my stay.

A cool fact is that everything inside the restaurant was made by Nigerian artists, including the furniture, paintings, and sculptures.

MENU

The food menu is rich and extensive, split into nine categories with at least three options per category. The drinks menu is also detailed, featuring signature cocktails categorized by liquor type, mocktails, soft drinks, juices, and drinks by the bottle. There are more options and items than what I shared below.

WHAT WE ORDERED

For drinks, I started with The Samba, a mocktail that seemed interesting on the menu and actually was. My friend chose the Berry Smash mocktail, which he liked. We later ordered three bottles of Perrier and fresh ginger tea before we called it a day.

For food, we paced ourselves because I wanted to explore. We started with the Birria Beef Torzo Tacos in hard shell (because gluten-free girlie over here), and the Truffle Salteadas Mushrooms.

The tacos were really good; wet, juicy, loaded, spicy and dripping just how I like them. The mushrooms surprised us. They were the best sautéed mushrooms we’ve ever had. Even though I couldn’t eat the bread and B had that, I really enjoyed how the mushrooms melted in my mouth. In fact, writing this is making me salivate. It made us eager to see what our mains would taste like.

For mains, since I was exploring, I chose the Peruvian Lomo Saltado (Chicken), served with rice and fries. My friend chose the Peruvian Lamb Chops, served with mash and sautéed vegetables.

I knew what I was getting, but when my food was served, I wished I didn’t choose to experiment. The Lomo Saltado tasted nice and flavourful, but my friend’s lamb chops were calling my name. The fries were loaded and well seasoned, the rice was sticky, and the sauce was tasty. The lamb was tender and succulent, and the vegetables added a nice balance to the dish.

We wanted to try dessert, I know, I shocked myself too, but unfortunately, ice cream wasn’t available. We settled for ginger tea, which was not just ginger but a blend of ginger, cinnamon, clove, and lemon. It was served in an interesting glass mug pictured below.

SERVICE DELIVERY & CUSTOMER EXPERIENCE

We didn’t make a reservation. As I walked in, I was asked if I had one and then ushered to a seat of my choosing. Our assigned waiter was well informed about the menu and explained our selections, pointing out ingredients we might object to. He answered our questions and stepped away to confirm when he wasn’t sure. We were served complimentary palete cleansers and there were no objections when we asked for more.

The wait time was decent, however, it was a Saturday afternoon and the restaurant wasn’t busy. The manager came by to check on us and asked for feedback, which I always appreciate.

The restaurant has ample parking, both indoor and outdoor.
