Crust Cafe is an all-day breakfast and fine dining restaurant in Lekki Phase 1. They serve American brunch-type meals, and I stopped by the restaurant with my friend, Kenny, in December.

AMBIENCE

The restaurant looks pretty much like any regular cafe with single and booth seats. The decor is minimalist, with some greenery and neon signs.

MENU

The food menu is categorized into eighteen sections, with at least three options per section. Sounds like a lot, right? I know! The drinks menu combines hot drinks like tea and coffee and cold drinks like milkshakes, smoothies, cocktails and mocktails which is standard for a cafe.

WHAT WE ORDERED

For drinks, I chose fresh pineapple juice, and Kenny had Americano. For food, we chose the lotus freak pancakes, avocado prawn salad and your speciality omelette.

We waited for a good couple of minutes before our drinks arrived and another some for the food. The salad came first, and the other meals were served as we started digging in.

The food was a lot for the tiny table it was placed on. The plan was to share the salad, but Kenny only had one prawn and some avocados. I ate the rest; it was fresh and yummy, especially because of the raisins. The pancakes looked so fluffy, and I couldn’t wait for a bite. It was perfect when I eventually did, and Kenny agreed when he had half of it. The pancakes came with a side of eggs and sausages that looked good, but I couldn’t eat them because I was stuffed, and I’m also not a big fan. Unfortunately, I was too full to try Kenny’s meal, but he enjoyed it because he packed the rest to go. His only complaint was that the eggs were salty.

SERVICE DELIVERY AND CUSTOMER EXPERIENCE

First of all, this restaurant has no ample provision for parking. It’s located in a mall, and the security guard in charge of parking can’t be bothered to help. When we got there, we waited about twenty minutes before parking because someone was trying to drive out, and the person parked behind him couldn’t be found. Also, when we were about to leave, we had to wait for minutes before we were able to. Their system is to write down the car’s plate number and approach people to ask if the car belongs to them. I think it’s advisable the restaurant explores valet parking. It’ll go a long way. Service was also slow, which we complained about, but we were told they were busier than usual because of both takeouts and dine-ins.
