La Chaumière is a café and restaurant located in Victoria Island, Lagos. The establishment features a bakery and two other restaurants: Bon Appétit and Yasmin Al Sham. I visited La Chaumière with my nephew, Fahrid, in August, and here’s a recap of our experience.

AMBIENCE
As you walk in, you encounter a long dining space that seems never-ending, featuring minimalist yet aesthetically pleasing decor, including basket-covered ceiling lighting and greenery. There is also a playground in the outdoor area for kids, equipped with various games and rides such as a trampoline, slides, and a gaming house. My nephew particularly loved all these activities, and I was glad because that is why I chose the restaurant.
MENU
The food menu is categorized into nine sections with at least five options per section. There are many options on the menu and a lot to choose from. The pictures I shared below only cover some options in each category. Please check out their menu on their page.

WHAT WE ORDERED
Fahrid immediately ordered the barbecue burger because he’s a big fan of burgers, unlike me. I chose to try their nachos. While we waited for our food, he left me to go play, and I was served complimentary bread and hummus, which was very good, by the way.
We didn’t have to wait long before our meals arrived. I enjoyed the nachos more than I expected, even though they were slightly burnt. There was a particular seasoning blend that made them quite tasty. Fahrid ate half of his burger, which he enjoyed, before quickly running back to play.
That day, I didn’t feel like eating much for some reason, so I didn’t order a main dish. However, I visited the restaurant earlier in the year with my friend Aisha, where I enjoyed the roasted chicken, steamed veggies, and rice, which was quite good. I ordered tea and waited for my nephew to have a great time until I decided that it was time to go.

SERVICE DELIVERY & CUSTOMER EXPERIENCE
From the moment we arrived, we felt welcomed. The valet service was excellent, and the staff at the entrance greeted us with smiles. The host seated us promptly, and our waiter was attentive throughout our meal. Even though it was a busy weekend and La Chaumiere is a popular spot for families, we didn’t feel neglected. I especially appreciated the playground concept the restaurant incorporated, as not many places offer this feature.
