Prayers You Didn’t Know You Needed (By Hannah Brencher)

Dear God, embed a spirit of rest in me so I can find peace in your plans knowing I am not in charge of holding the world together.
We ask for healing from tears we cry that none know about. For shame we have carried, whether ours or not. For painful memories brought about by loved ones and strangers.
you may not see it you may not feel it you may not have it
Last Monday, I met someone who is neither a Muslim nor a Christian. I know there are many people like this globally, but I had never met a Nigerian living in Nigeria who didn't believe in organized religion.
I’m grateful to be alive today, in good health physically and mentally. I'm grateful that I'm living comfortably and not squatting. I’m grateful that I can articulate my thoughts into words.
Thank you creator of the universe for the gift of life you have given me.
Thank you for giving me everything that I have ever truly needed.
Thank you for the opportunity to experience this beautiful body and this wonderful mind.
