- 1 green pepper
- 1 cup cabbage
- 1 Carrot
- 1/2 Tomato
- 1 cup Lettuce

- 2 tbsp Coconut oil
- 1/2 tsp Black pepper
- 2 tbsp Lite Ranch Dressing(can be substituted with honey)
- 2 pieces of Naan Bread
I like cooking and I enjoy making my own healthy meals but chopping can be tasking. This meal involved a lot of chopping😰 but I got through it quickly because I made this meal for just me,myself and I.
I’ve always liked naan bread with or without hummus. I buy it often and just eat it plain with nothing (yeah I’m weird like that). However, this time I decided to try something else with it.
I used to be a shawarma lover in my pre fitfam life. It didn’t help much that there was a shawarma place really close to my house. I haven’t eaten it much in the past three years though and I can’t even remember the last time I had it. So I decided to make my own. A definitely healthier version of course.
Process:
Step 1: chop all your vegetables
Step 2: shred your chicken (if you already have boiled/grilled shredded chicken better. This was impromptu so I had to improvise)
Step 3: mix the cameroon pepper, black pepper, coconut oil and lite ranch dressing together to form a paste and set aside. I didn’t want a sweet taste that’s why I used the dressing you can use honey instead which is definitely healthier.
Step 4: Get your naan bread out and toast it in the oven for a minute to make it warm (This is not necessary. I did this because my bread was in the fridge)
Step 5: Spread some sauce on the inside of the bread and try to cover it fully.
Step 6: Add a handful of the vegetables and chicken on the bread.
Step 7: Spread some sauce over again and add the rest of the veg mix and chicken you wish to use.
Step 8: Wrap another bread around the filled one.
Step 9: Toast in the oven for 2 minutes to make it warm and crunchy.
Your homemade healthy shawarma is ready. Let me know if you will try this.
This was a first time trial and It turned out great. It was really filling and delicious. You don’t have to be fitfam to try this. It just shows you don’t need hotdogs, ketchup and mayo in your shawarma to make it juicy.
