I want a love
that lights up my life
that asks questions
and believes the answers
that listens to understand
and remembers when necessary
that makes love
and not war
that cherishes what we have
and knows every day will not be rosy
that forgives
and will never give up on us
that doesn’t shove the word love
but shows it instead
that doesn’t control
but advises and supports
that understands the value of growth
and takes gradual steps to achieve it
that brings endless joy
and makes me feel safe
that will always be there
and grow old with me
