Oceans5 is a new restaurant in Lagos at Riviera Hotel. It’s located in Victoria Island and began operations in June 2021. I stopped by the restaurant on the 5th of September with my brother, Luki and my sister, Dee. We were interested in trying a new place, and oceans5 was a popular choice.
AMBIENCE
The restaurant is brightly lit and occupies a huge space on the ground floor. It’s safe to refer to Oceans5 as a blue wonderland because there’s a hint of blue everywhere. It’s beautiful, dreamy and perfect for a photo session. I especially liked the “mirrors everywhere” concept and the wall design. There are three sitting areas in the restaurant: main seats, booth seats, and bar.
MENU
The menu is inspired by food from around the world, so it doesn’t cater to a particular cuisine. The meal options include Italian, Indian, Asian, Nigerian and American cuisines. So there’s definitely something for everyone. I wasn’t a big fan of the menu’s design because everything looked clustered and simple, so we trusted Luki to make the selections.
WHAT WE ORDERED
For drinks, I chose a Mojito while Dee asked for the Orange-Mango crush. We also ordered a big bottle of water for the table. For starters, we chose The Hummus Platter, Mushroom Bakhlava & Chicken Wings. For mains, we chose The Lamb Shank, Burnt Garlic Fried Rice with Stir-fried Beef sauce, Pesce Alla Griglia and Pollo Scallopini. And for dessert, I chose the Blueberry Cheesecake. It was a lot of food!!!

When our starters were served, we were in awe of the hummus platter and mushroom bakhlava presentation. As a big hummus lover, I was in small heaven because of the display. Everything was lovely, including the fresh salad. Dee and Luki liked the mushroom and I only got to eat 1.

The Burnt Garlic Fried Rice and sauce was served first. Let’s just say we cleared our servings in less than five minutes. It was better than the regular rice and shredded beef sauce. Up next was the Pesce Alla Griglia, which was grilled fish, veggies and mash. The fish was perfect.
The Lamb Shank and Pollo Scallopini (grilled chicken breast and risotto) were served next. I had some of the lamb, but Luki ate most of it. It was decent. I also ate a piece of the chicken; it was equally nice, but I didn’t enjoy the risotto. We soon realized that we had a lot of side dishes we were not going to eat, so we asked for them to be packed to go.
At this moment, I was stuffed, but I wanted to end the night with a treat. So I ordered the dessert. Luki opted out of this, so only Dee and I ate the cake. It was mostly consumed by me, to be honest. It was so satisfying that I couldn’t believe I was leaving some of it on my plate when it was time to go.

SERVICE & CUSTOMER EXPERIENCE
We were a bit sceptical about staying when we walked into the restaurant because of how busy it was. I’m glad we decided to stay though because we all agreed that we had a great time at the end of the night. Our waiter was a bit lost sometimes, and we always had to ask another waiter to get him for us. The restaurant has ample parking space within the premises.
