Vendome is a new restaurant and lounge in Victoria Island, Lagos. It’s one of the many new kids on the block ahead of Christmas. It’s been on my to-visit list since October when they began operations, and I stopped by last weekend with my friend. Keep reading for how it went.

AMBIENCE
The lounge is on the first floor of the building. It’s a long stretch with seating to the left, right and bar. The furniture and decor are similar to every new restaurant; colourful, bright and comfortable. The art on display is gracious, and there’s a big pink tree right in the middle of the bar that sets them apart. Though it’s not a big space, it’s beautiful and was well utilized.

MENU
Vendome’s food menu is extensive and categorized into 13 sections. I like that the menu has a lot of options. The cocktails are between N6,500 to N7,000 per pop, relatively high, but similar in price with the other new kids. A brunch menu is also available on weekends.

WHAT WE ORDERED
For drinks, I chose soda water while my friend chose a Strawberry Margarita. We skipped appetizers and went strictly to mains: The T-bone steak and The Lamb Shank.

While we waited for our meals, we were served complimentary bread, and our drinks came right after. The bread was fresh and excellent #breadlover here!!

Lamb Shank and Mash

Our steak knives came next then our meals arrived. Our first thoughts were, we’re not even hungry; why did we even order this??? But as we dug in, the contents of our plates gradually became less.

The steak was perfect. Yes, perfect, and the wedges were so good; not the best I’ve had, but very close to it. The lamb shank was also decent; choosing the Nigerian version was a good idea.

SERVICE DELIVERY & CUSTOMER EXPERIENCE
As soon as we were sat, our waiter introduced herself and gave us a menu. She was also courteous, always available and assisted with recommendations. Unfortunately, there was a brunch event going on, so there was loud music and a lot of traffic which we didn’t particularly enjoy for a Sunday afternoon. After eating, we were served complimentary drinks from the brunch menu, which was a nice touch.

DAMAGE
Lamb Shank ~ 16,500
T-Bone ~ 19,500
Soda Water ~ 1,500
Water ~ 1,000
Strawberry Margarita ~ 6,500
Our total damage was N45,000, there were no additional charges.

Vendome is a beautiful place to hang with friends; don’t forget that your pocket must be heavy. The main seating area is not built for privacy, so if you require that and the area with red seats is occupied, that’s the end.

Out of 10, I rate Vendome a 6.5

P.S. this is not a sponsored post. All opinions expressed were not influenced.
