It’s been a while since I wrote a music playlist post. The first 10 Songs on My Playlist posts, both the foreign and Naija editions, were published in 2020 and I thought it would be nice to show you what I’ve been listening to six years later.
One thing about me is that music is always playing. Whether I’m working, cleaning, exercising, writing, driving, cooking, or simply staring into space thinking about life, there is usually a song playing in the background. Music has a way of setting the mood, changing the energy of a room, bringing back memories, and sometimes saying exactly what we cannot put into words ourselves. Though I must admit that podcasts have stolen some of my music time lately.
My taste in music is quite varied. I can go from Afrobeats to R&B, from soul to pop, from old favourites to recent discoveries all in the same day. This time around, I decided to mix both foreign and African songs together instead of separating them. These are some of the songs that have been on repeat lately, the ones I keep returning to, singing along to, or finding myself randomly humming throughout the day.
So if you’re looking for something new to add to your playlist, here are ten songs I’ve been enjoying and I think you should check out too.
1. Baby Steps – Olivia Dean
2. DO 4 Love – Snoh Aalegra
3. Residuals – Chris Brown
4. Beautiful Things – Benson Boone
5. Slow – Wizkid Ft Anaïs Cardot
6. Messy – Lola Young
7. Raindance – Dave Ft Tems
8. Seasons – Lloyiso
9. Burning Blue – Mariah The Scientist
10. Holy Father – Mannywellz
It was hard to share only 10 songs, but I wanted to keep the tradition going, so here you have it.
I love discovering new music and hearing what other people are listening to, but I also enjoy revisiting old favourites. In fact, I have a Spotify playlist for my liked songs. There are currently 55 songs on it, and they’re the ones I’ve been vibing to the most lately.
Now it’s your turn. What songs have you been listening to lately? Feel free to share your recommendations in the comments. I’m always looking for new additions to my playlist.
Thanks for stopping by.
