Hi people, it’s been a while since I shared a travel blog post, and I almost didn’t share this one. Then I changed my mind because, well, why not?
I travelled to the UK in July and, during my holiday, I spent a weekend in London, besides the usual in-and-out trips I made throughout the rest of the holiday.
Before this trip, I had seen several reels about Borough Market and made a mental note to visit the next time I was in London. So when the opportunity finally came, I dragged my sister, Laitan, who lives in the UK, to Borough Market with me to try the viral strawberries and chocolate. Because why not?

First Stop: The Viral Strawberries and Chocolate
As soon as we arrived, my sister spotted a vendor right at the entrance selling huge chocolate chunks that looked so rich. She couldn’t resist getting some, under the guise that they were for her son. Hmm. After that little detour, I told her we were making no more stops until we found what we had actually come for.
When we finally got to the strawberries and chocolate stand, the queue was long, and I was a little worried that we’d spend ages waiting. Surprisingly, though, they had a really good system. The line kept moving, and within minutes, we had our treats.
They cost £9.50 per cup, and honestly, I understand why people rave about them.
The strawberries were massive, super juicy, and fresh, while the chocolate was melted, dripping, and properly rich milk chocolate. The combination was ridiculously good. I loved it so much that when my sister finished her strawberries and was about to throw her cup away, I collected it and ate the leftover chocolate.
No shame whatsoever.

Finding Gluten-Free Food
There were so many pastry vendors selling sweet treats, bread, cakes, and snacks that I wanted to try everything. Unfortunately, as gluten-intolerant girlies, our food options were a little more limited.
Luckily, we found some gluten-free tacos from Tacos Padre and decided to give them a try. We had both the beef and chicken tacos, and they were a pretty good find considering how many of the other food options contained gluten.
One of the things I enjoyed about Borough Market was how much there was to see. Even when we couldn’t eat something, there was still something interesting to look at, smell, photograph, or talk about. I wish I had done some research for gluten-free options, so I’d know exactly where to go and what to look for instead of wandering about.
A Little More Exploring
We stopped by the London Cider House, where Laitan had a cider slushie, while I had gelato made with raw dairy from Hooks and Sons Farm.
We also walked past a gorgeous-looking mushroom risotto stall that I really wanted to try, but sadly, it wasn’t gluten-free. I won’t lie, I was slightly heartbroken because it looked so good.
There were so many other stalls and delicious-looking foods to explore, from oils and cheeses to meats, drinks, desserts, and other international cuisines. We spent some time walking around, taking everything in, and deciding what we could actually eat before eventually calling it a day.

I’d definitely go back to Borough Market, especially for those strawberries and chocolate. But beyond the food, I enjoyed the experience of walking around and seeing so many different vendors in one place. There’s something fun about being surrounded by so many options and just taking your time to explore.
It was also nice doing something as simple as going to a market with my sister. Not every memorable travel experience has to involve a major tourist attraction or an elaborate itinerary. Sometimes, it’s just finding good food, walking around a new place, laughing with someone you love, and eating the leftover chocolate from their cup. And yes, I would do that last part again.
I also shared a reel from my Borough Market visit, so if you’d like to see a little bit of what the experience looked like, have a look below. Watch my Borough Market reel.
Thanks for stopping by.
