Statement Piece: The Batwing Shirt

Ever styled a batwing piece?

On Saturday, I had plans to meet up with my friends and I wanted to wear something super comfortable so I grabbed my batwing shirt. It’s called a batwing shirt because of its overlapping sleeves. The batwing sleeve is a sleeve, cut wide at the shoulder with deep armholes that leads to thin tapered wrists, giving a ‘wing-like’ appearance.

I copped this shirt last month because it looked like one of those pieces I could just throw on anytime for any occasion and it will fit just right in. It can be tucked in or out and it can be paired with pants or a skirt. It can be styled to work and also on the weekend so it was a perfect buy.

To make my shirt a lot more dressy, I wore a belt over it. The belt helped to define my waist and added more detail to the look. I paired the shirt with bright blue jeans because you can never go wrong with black and blue. For shoes, I chose my two-strap leopard print block heels and I completed the look with a black sling purse.

It only felt right to accessorize with gold jewellery and add a pop of colour on my lips. I felt light and free all through in this outfit and couldn’t help but think of other ways I will get to style this shirt soon.
