And it wasn’t because I miss you
but because I was in a happy mood
after a long time of beating myself up

because I woke up with a burst of energy
and there was no doubt in my mind
about my decision to leave

because I acknowledge my growth
and I know that my past experiences
have molded me into the woman I am today

I shed a tear today
because for the first time
in a long time
I am finally free
