I grew up an independent woman who always managed to get things done without asking for help. I may have been dying inside but I thought it was weak to let people know I needed their assistance. Back then, I kept trying to get things right even if that meant I had to try a million times. This was because I never wanted to show my vulnerability or inability. It may have taken me longer to resolve things but I took pride in figuring it out myself in the end.
I was called strong headed and stubborn by the people that are close to me when I put up this attitude. Thank goodness I have outgrown that phase and learnt along the way that it’s okay to ask for help when I need it. Don’t get me wrong, I am still very adamant and I like to solve my own problems but now I remember every time that I can always ask for help or advice when things seem hard instead of dying inside. It’s good to be independent and strong but it’s also essential to realize that you aren’t Superman. Your helper can be in the from a friend, a colleague, a neighbour, a former boss or even a follower on Instagram.
Our life circumstances can change suddenly. You may wake up with a clear mind ready to take on the day and out of nowhere even before 8am you’re carrying the weight of an elephant on your head. You turn to a fixer trying to solve this new problem you have been faced with. And we all know how life is set up, once you fix it, another one is already lurking in the corner waiting for you.
Having somebody to lean on makes everything easier. It may be just a conversation that sets things right. Sometimes, that person can actually fix the problem. Other times, simply knowing there is someone somewhere you can count on to always listen to your vents and rants is good enough.
We all need somebody because we cannot do everything by ourselves. This is why we are not alone in this world. There are so many beautiful creatures on this earth to help us through our days. I said creatures because even a pet can put a smile on your face or make it easier to get through the day. Isn’t it nice to have someone in your corner cheering you on, challenging you and helping you through these obstacles? I know it is because I’m thankful for my little helpers in the form of my family and friends.
Everybody needs somebody this is why the CEO of a company hires people to work for him because he cannot run the company and do the daily tasks all by himself. He needs people who believe in his vision for the company to take it to where he wants it to get to. Also, a baby needs his mother to survive before he is of age to take care of himself and even after he is old enough to, he still needs his mother period.
Have you ever decided to shut everybody in your life out thinking you can survive on our own? I’m sure it made you lonely and miserable after a few days and you found a way back to them soon after. P.S: Don’t shut people out, you are not burden.
Everybody needs somebody; somebody to care; somebody to call; somebody to love; somebody to lean on; somebody that is always there.
Everybody needs somebody no matter how strong, tough, powerful, wealthy, beautiful, anointed, spiritual, intelligent you may be.
Everybody needs somebody including you.
