POEM| Confessions of an Insomniac

It’s been six days
and sixteen hours
since I had a good night rest

Sleep eludes me
and it frustrates me
that each night’s battle is one I always lose

Hot milk didn’t ignite it,
meditation didn’t relax me
and pills didn’t fix it

I need sleep to think better,
talk better, read better,
work better and live better

Please, sleep, come back to me.
