Places in Lagos| Mood Lagos

Mood (formerly known as Atmosphere) is a contemporary rooftop restaurant located at Lennox Mall in Lekki Phase 1, Lagos. The space was renovated last year, and that’s when the name was changed. I reviewed Atmosphere in 2019 and was happy to stop by Mood with my friend, A, in June to experience the space again.

AMBIENCE

As soon as we walked in, I realized a lot was changed, and I fell in love with the space. If you take a photo in the restaurant, you can easily claim you’re in another country, and no one would know. I love how vibrant and welcoming the light fittings and furniture are. They bring the place alive. The same seating areas were maintained; the outdoor with more seats, the indoor space, the hidden corner for private events, the bar area and the indoor seating. And at night, you’re transported to a magical scenery with the light details across the entire restaurant.

MENU

The food menu is categorized into five sections, with at least three options per section. The meals comprise a mix of Nigerian and Continental dishes with many options. The drinks menu is adequate, with a vast selection of alcoholic and nonalcoholic drinks and some signature cocktails.

WHAT WE ORDERED

For drinks, we chose Tropical Storm and Ginger Me Hard and a bottle of water. For starters, we ordered Calamari and Chicken Wings. For Mains, I chose the Seafood Linguine in tomato-based sauce, while A chose Braised Lamb Shank.

Our drinks were served not long after, and as soon as I sipped them, I wished I didn’t suggest Tropical Storm to A because my Ginger Me Hard was really hard, lol. We sipped away, and our starters were served a couple of minutes later. The wings were spicy and tasty, just like I love my wings. The calamari wasn’t dry, and I enjoyed eating it without the sauce but A loved the sauce it was served with.

Calamari

As soon as our waiter saw our empty plates, she cleared them and brought our mains. A’s meal looked way bigger and more interesting than my pasta, but that was expected because it cost more. His lamb was cooked to perfection, and the mash melted right in the mouth.

I loved tasting the flavour of the combination of spices in the pasta. It definitely wasn’t cooked with Maggi. However, the prawn tasted like a last-minute addition to it.

It was finally time for dessert, and I was looking forward to trying the brownie, but it wasn’t available. I settled for the carrot cake even though I’m not a big fan. I’m happy to report that the dessert was delicious. The blend of cake with the ice cream, butterscotch sauce and crumble was divine.

SERVICE DELIVERY & CUSTOMER EXPERIENCE

It was a vibe as soon as we walked in. I loved the ambience and felt super comfortable in the space. Our waiter was attentive, assisted us with order decisions and was readily available when needed. I noticed they retained the grey ceramic servicing plates and some old staff. We loved every minute we spent there and will definitely be going back.

Mood is a nice place to unwind after a work day or to grab a meal with friends or family. It also seems suitable for lunch or a meeting over a meal any time of the day.
