You are not just one thing.
You are everything.
You are a force.
You are a jewel.
You are a star.
You are the apex.
You are the top.
You are the chef’s specialty
the perfect crust,
the perfect bite,
the part everyone wants,
the last piece left on the plate.
You are the chosen.
You are the voice of reason.
You are the beautiful outfit
that makes everything else come together.
You are the best song,
the one that stays on repeat.
You are the chart topper,
the one everyone wants to hear.
But you are also
the song still being written.
The outfit still being put together.
The voice still finding its sound.
The masterpiece still in the making.
You are the beginning.
You are the current.
You are the middle.
You are the part
you haven’t discovered yet.
You are the strength
you didn’t know you had.
The softness
you thought you had to hide.
The fire
you keep forgetting is there.
You are not just
what people see.
Not just
what you want
Not just
what you’ve accomplished
You are the things
you are still learning.
The things
you are still becoming.
The things
you haven’t even imagined yet.
You are not just one thing.
You are everything.

This poem was inspired by the words (“You are not just one thing. You are everything.”) I heard and wrote down while watching Off Campus last weekend. I used it as a prompt and here’s what I came up with. Feel free to try yours and send it to me.
