No one tells you that
when death comes to take someone you love
it doesn’t listen to your pleas
and it has no regard for your feelings
it doesn’t answer your cries
nor does it wait for your opinion
it simply takes who it wants
and just like that
they are no longer here
everything goes still
then life continues
like nothing happened

No one tells you that
when death comes to take someone you love
It leaves you numb
It leaves you confused
It leaves you speechless
It leaves you incomplete
It’s worse than having a cut or bruise
It’s worse than a heartbreak 
or trapping your hand on the door
because for those,
the pain comes then it gradually dies
but with this,
the pain is excruciating and also everlasting

No one tells you that
when death comes to take someone you love
you have to say a permanent goodbye
and even though
you long for them every day
you will never see them again
you can’t squeeze in a quick call to hear their voice
or check on them to see how they’re doing
without their knowledge
you are supposed to continue living
Though they aren’t alive to witness it

No one tells you that
when death comes to take someone you love
It is the worst thing ever
