Wherever You Are Is The Perfect Place To Begin

The first time I came across this quote, I wrote it down because it said so much in just a few words. After a few days, I shared it on my Instagram story as well to inspire anyone that may need it. Worrying or pondering over something we need to get done is customary for almost everyone. Perhaps we worry because we are afraid of the unknown, because it takes us away from our comfort zone, because we’re waiting for the right moment, or because we feel incapable.

Life is a puzzle and there are a lot of pieces that need to be put together every day. Our minds are constantly working overtime, trying to decide what we should do, how it should be done, where it should be done, why it should be done, if it should be done, who we should do it with, if we can afford for it to be done and so many other scenarios we let our minds conjure up to stop us from taking the next step.

“The only impossible journey is the one we never begin.” – Tony Robbins

You may have thought about embarking on a project then you back down last minute because you just realised you don’t have the funds to push it. Sometimes, you simply say it’s not the right time then you keep waiting for the perfect time which may never come. You forget that you can start small first and use your inner circle as support until you are able to raise awareness and funds to get investment.

Most successful people have one thing in common when they talk about their achievements, they stopped thinking and started doing. In late 1993, Jeff Bezos(the richest man in the world) decided to start an online bookstore. He left his job at D. E. Shaw and founded Amazon in his garage on July 5, 1994, after writing its business plan on a trip from NewYork to Seattle.  He didn’t stop there, because since then, the bookstore has expanded to a wide variety of other e-commerce products and services, including video and audio streaming, cloud computing, and artificial intelligence.

An idea is only an idea until it is executed and there are way too many ideas and fewer executions. To execute your idea, write it down and begin to work towards achieving it. Do something every day that moves you in the direction of accomplishing your idea. It’s possible that you may fail or get stuck along the way but the experience will teach you lessons that will be valuable in future. There’s also the possibility of something great coming out of it but you will never know if you don’t try.

“The key to realizing a dream is to focus not on success but significance, and then even the small steps and little victories along your path will take greater meaning.”
– Oprah Winfrey

Don’t wait to have everything figured out because nobody has everything figured out. We are all winging this thing called life. Instead of waiting for the perfect business plan, the perfect elevator pitch, the perfect business opportunity, use what you have at the moment and develop it as you go.

If you don’t dare to take the first step, you will never find out so now is the perfect place to begin.
