10 Weird Things You Probably Didn’t Know About Me

I think it’s okay to be a bit weird or a bit quirky. It’s what makes you you so you should own it and not try to hide it. We all have things we do that are a bit far from ordinary that make us unique. I thought it would be fun to do a blog post on weird things about myself.

1.) I love plain bread: I would rather eat my bread plain than with any form of spread: butter, avocado or jam. I think bread is already perfect the way it is. Why add anything else?

2.) I spend more time in my room than any other place in the house: My room is my fortress. It’s the place I’m most comfortable. And if it was big enough, I would totally put a TV and kitchen in it and not bother going to any other part of the house.

3.) I can be forgetful: Sometimes, I forget full conversations I had with someone and it’s until they remind me in different ways; quoting the things we said that I remember. Other times, I don’t even remember at all. I worry about this but the many reminders I set help me with my forgetfulness.

4.) I can’t sleep for 8 hours straight: You know how people say they slept for ten hours straight? That has never been me. I always wake up in between sleep and even when I think for sure I would sleep like a log, I’d still wake up at 3 or 4AM and try to sleep back.

5.) I’m obsessed with tea: I’m a tea lover. I don’t let a day go by without having a cup of tea. I’ve tried coffee and it just doesn’t cut it. Tea soothes me and gets me and I can never get enough of it. I love all kinds of tea but I drink mostly organic tea that have zero calories and health benefits.

6.) I like to do things myself: When the light bulb is burned out, I climb up to fix a new one in. When I get a new device, I don’t struggle with setting it up. My Mum used to call me to fix everything for her and I didn’t mind doing it. When I struggle with doing things myself, I prefer someone showing me how to do it instead of doing it for me. I only ever give up after I’ve tried a couple of times and it’s clear I need help.

7.) I have a communication problem: I struggle with communicating first and I literally push myself to be the first person to text or call. This is bad right?

8.) I can be stubborn and adamant: When I make a decision, I find it hard to change my mind because it was hard to make the decision in the first place.

9.) I’m a bit obsessed with neatness/cleaning: I can’t help but to clear, organize and tidy up places or spaces I feel are not tidy enough or properly organized. I lay my bed when I wake up every morning and I can never leave the house without doing that. I can never feel comfortable with a pile of dishes in the sink or things misarranged in the fridge. I don’t need to keep going, you get the picture.

10.) My mood changes rather quickly: I can be super excited about something and a few seconds later, I may get totally moody because of a thought that came to my mind. It’s totally weird and sometimes it’s hard to explain to someone who thinks it’s because of something they said or did. No, you didn’t do anything wrong. I’d be fine in a minute or two 🙂

Let’s face it, we’re all a bit weird. What makes you a bit weird, quirky or awkward?

  1. Believe me, there are things on this list that other of us do in our life. I would say that the odds of not sleeping 8 hours straight are pretty high. Good post, and thanks for putting yourself out there

  2. Lmao. I think we should lay emphasis on the OCD. You clean literally everything. And omg you are so forgetful. I loved loved reading this made me laugh at how you actually forget every convo and say “ we didn’t have that conversation” haha. I think one really weird thing about me is I smell my food before I eat it haha.

  3. Some of us have known all of these and more for almost 15years 🤣😂🤣. “The OCD Mariam”, “I can do everything in the world, I don’t need help”. SMH.

  4. I enjoyed learning more about you. I, too, am a tea lover. I also used to love doing things by myself. Since being married, I love doing things with my family more.
