“The person who has stopped being thankful has fallen asleep in life” – Robert Louis Stevenson
First off, let the quote above sink in…
To be thankful is to be pleased/to express gratitude.
We tend to take many things for granted and we forget to be thankful for what we have. We also keep asking for more forgetting to live in the moment and appreciate what we have.
Other times, we keep praying for something and when we finally have it, we move on to something else without being thankful for attaining what we prayed so long for.
Take the following as a daily reminder to keep you guarded and appreciative of the simple things in life while you go about your day.
Be thankful you are alive, breathing yourself, healthy, moving freely and speaking. Some people are alive as if they are dead.
Be thankful you have eyes to see because there are people who do not know how beautiful a sunset is.
Be thankful you have food to eat because there are people who have not had a meal in days.
Be thankful you have clean water to bathe and drink because there are people who do not have clean water, the easily accessible and mostly free resource on earth.
Be thankful you have a roof over your head because there are a lot of homeless people on these streets.
Be thankful you can read and write. You will be amazed that a lot of people still can’t do this.
Be thankful you have a source of income while you pray for something better to come. There are people who have not been able to keep a job all their life.
Be thankful you are in a position to help others and therefore help others when you can.
Stop for a moment and be thankful for what you have now!
