Has part of your nail ever broken and you try to protect it from breaking any further? Then you treat your finger like an egg to protect the nail. Is it so that maybe it won’t keep breaking or you think that by some form of magic it won’t be broken anymore??? Knowing fully well that no matter what, the broken nail will keep coming in the way till you finally cut the whole nail off for new growth to commence.
We get so comfortable doing what we know that we will rather keep at it than trying something new. Fear of the unknown is a big determent to growth. Or in reference to the broken nail, we are afraid of starting the process all over again. Forgetting that the new nail that grows may come out nicer than the old one we were so scared of doing away with.
Life brings forth change all the time and as we are evolving as humans, everything around us too is. As we learn everyday, we grow everyday. I for one know that I’ve grown so much this year as opposed to last year and even this month as opposed to last month. Do not be afraid of growing slowly, be afraid instead of standing still.
Often, we should remind ourselves on the need for growth by checking our mindset. You can ask yourself some of these questions.
- What is my biggest fear and how do I overcome it?
- How do I manage change? Do I run away from it or welcome it?
- Have I been settling for “good enough”?
- What can I do today that I could not do a year ago?
- When was the last time I was intentional about developing myself?
Answer these five questions to determine if you embrace growth and empower your mind towards doing same.
Life is growth. I can’t imagine a world where we will stop growing. If we stop growing, we stop existing.
Stop delaying growth, welcome it.
Feel free to share ways you remind yourself to embrace growth.
Thanks for reading and have a great week.
