Food Shack is a barbecue restaurant located in Victoria Island, Lagos. The restaurant has existed since 2017, and I’ve eaten there a few times. About a month ago, I realized I had never done a review of the spot, so I invited my friend, A, out to lunch and here’s how it went.
AMBIENCE
The restaurant has a relaxed atmosphere with outdoor and indoor sitting options. There’s a lot of green in the space; green-coloured furniture and greenery. It’s decorated with plants and minimalist art pieces that make the space come alive. I also like the tall windows and how the sun’s reflection illuminates the room.

MENU
The food menu is categorized into seven sections with four to seven meal options per section. There’s a lot of information on one page, and we didn’t have to scroll for minutes to make our choices. Besides the main food menu, there’s also a separate menu for surf and turf Fridays (not photographed). The drinks menu has a selection of cocktails, mocktails, milkshakes, sodas, beer, slushes and juices. They also offer pitchers for groups. I like how bright and creative the menu is.

WHAT WE ORDERED
For drinks, I chose Shack Juice, and A chose Banana Ko-Lada. After some deliberation, we decided to try two meals from the combo trays. I chose Lagos Hot Combo (4 shack wings, 1 Lagos hot turkey wing, sweet corn, coleslaw, Texas toast and sweet potato fires), and A chose Burger Combo (4 shack wings, Shack Burger and french fries). I opted for the Lagos Pepper sauce for my wings, while A chose the Shack BBQ sauce. Our waiter said it would take 45 minutes for our meals to be ready because everything is made from scratch. Since we had some time to kill, I took advantage of this for a mini photoshoot
Our drinks arrived about ten minutes after we placed the orders. The Shack Juice was really good. It gave Sangria vibes, and it was a good portion that lasted the entire duration of our stay there. A enjoyed his Banana Ko-Lada, but it was too sweet for me.

A’s meal arrived twenty-five minutes later. Good thing we made a decision to share both meals because mine wasn’t served until after another twenty minutes. The barbecue wings were mind-blowingly delicious, while the shack wings were equally lovely. I noticed that the wings weren’t skinny like that of other restaurants. The shack burger was juicy, and the fries (both french fries and sweet potato fries) were just right. The corn was cold but juicy, and the turkey was good too. Everything was decent. We were both stuffed and truly satisfied at the end of the evening.

SERVICE DELIVERY & CUSTOMER EXPERIENCE
We were politely welcomed and ushered into the restaurant as we arrived. A waiter came to us almost immediately, and she was readily available throughout our stay though the restaurant became quite busy much later. Besides the long wait time, which we truly understood, everything was a hit. We had no complaints.
