BOOKS|Mind Platter by Najwa Zebian – Part 2

Hi everyone, welcome to a new week. Last week Monday, I wrote the first part of my post about this book. Incase you didn’t catch it, you can read it here. Mind Platter is a compilation of reflections on the writer’s mind that touches pretty much every subject of focus in our daily lives.

As I was reading Mind Platter, I couldn’t let some of the thoughts go. I wrote a few of them down to share with the world with the hope that someone takes something away from this.

Enjoy the rest below…

Everything that we are is to some extent owned by others. Our words once they are spoken, the way we look once we are seen, the actions we do once we act upon our thoughts. The only thing we have true ownership over is that which cannot be seen or controlled by others. Our thoughts.”

If you can’t stand up for what you believe in, prepare to be silenced.”

“If you don’t have the courage to pursue your dreams, prepare for someone else reaching them.”

“Stopping yourself from doing what’s wrong is not the same as choosing what’s right and doing it.”

“Don’t stand on the verge of being good. Be as good as you can be.”

“Don’t be afraid to be yourself, even if it means removing yourself from lives that you want to be in. You are, no doubt, worthy of being valued for who you are. So be who you are.”

“With every year of your life, you will realize the following. You will know more people, but less people will know you. Many people may know of you, but very few will really know you. Most people exist in your life to know what you’re up to, rather than really care for you.”

People are more likely to misjudge you than to try to understand you.”

“You may not be where you want to be, but you are somewhere.”

Don’t focus on the result because the fear of failure will make you blind to the possibility of success. Focus on the process instead because it’ll motivate you to take every step carefully.”

“If you have a purpose in life, you will have enemies. If you care about the well-being of the people around you, even if you don’t know them, you will have enemies.”

“Don’t point out people’s mistakes unless you’re willing to tell them how to fix them. Criticism can break the strongest of souls, and advice can build the weakest of spirits.”

Love is wanting for another person more than you want for yourself. Love is giving without expecting the same in return.”

“You must learn to be kind to yourself. You must learn to understand yourself. You must believe in yourself.”

Another compilation for you to ponder on today, tomorrow, this week and hopefully impact in your life forever. Self love is really important and I’m glad she touched on this topic a lot.

Something amazing happened after I wrote Part 1. I got gifted a hard copy of this book by a friend. I’ll have to wait for it to arrive from the states but I’m elated. FYI, what I have shared doesn’t even do the book justice. It’s a great book to have forever.

Thanks for reading and have a great day.

  2. “If you don’t have the courage to pursue your dreams, prepare for someone else reaching them.”

This reminds me that i have to leave my comfort zone and chase my dreams. Until i do, i would continue to hear and read about success stories of others who were courageous enough to pursue theirs.
Thanks for this compilation dear, they are words to live by.
