The Room Cafe is a new, small, cosy cafe in Victoria Island, Lagos. The restaurant began operations in November 2022, and it’s fast becoming a popular place for brunch-type meals. I stopped by The Room Cafe with my family for Sunday brunch in November, and here’s how it went.
AMBIENCE
The cafe has a bright and relaxed atmosphere with two seating areas. The furniture is a mix of white, blue, brown and grey tones, with art and greenery that give the space a modern but minimalist vibe. There’s an event room on the top floor for small and intimate events.

MENU
The food menu is categorized into fifteen sections with two to eight options per section. The drinks menu is also vast, with hot and cold drinks, cocktail and mocktail options.

WHAT WE ORDERED
We chose Passion Pearl, Pineapple juice, Coke, Apple Spritzer, Chapman and Soda Water for drinks. For food, we ordered English Breakfast, Honey Mustard Wings, American Breakfast, Waffles & Buttermilk chicken, Eggs Benedict, Nigerian Breakfast, Braised Lamb and rice, and Crispy Chicken Wings. Don’t be alarmed; we were eight people. Unfortunately, I didn’t get to photograph everyone’s meals, but you can see some below.

Some of our orders were mixed up when our meals arrived, but that got rectified quickly. After this, we all devoured our meals. I chose the waffles and buttermilk chicken meal. I thought the waffles were too sweet when I bit into them. The syrup on the side wasn’t needed, and I couldn’t eat them all. On the other hand, the chicken was perfect. The highlight of the day was the honey mustard chicken wings. They were just too yummy.
To end the afternoon, we were served a complimentary dessert on the house; The Lotus Cheesecake. We all shared it and it was deeply satisfying.

SERVICE DELIVERY & CUSTOMER EXPERIENCE
We were ushered into the cafe well, and our waiter was prompt and friendly. We felt cramped in the space allotted to us because we were a lot in a small space, but we were able to manage. The owner/manager came by to check on us a few times and ensured everything was okay. Plus, the complimentary dessert was a nice addition. The wait time was decent, and our complaints and requests were attended to promptly. At the end of the day, we were all stuffed and had a good time.
