Right from when we were young, we had PE(Physical Education) or GYM classes and we were taught different forms of exercises. We even enjoyed the classes because they were outside the classroom and we got to play. However, most of us grew up neglecting our bodies and not even participating in any form of sports (me inclusive). We totally forgot how much fun we had exercising and let laziness get the best of us.

Exercise isn’t a form of punishment, rather it’s a form of nourishment the body needs to wake up and function better. Exercising doesn’t just help you lose weight it does way more than that which include the following;

It Reduces Your Risks of ill Health (diabetes, high blood pressure, stroke): Statistics show that exercising has been proven to increase one’s life span. Have you ever seen an old fat person??? Think again.

It Helps With Better Sleep: It’s safe to say everyone wants better sleep. The kind of sleep that you don’t toss and turn or wake up several times during the night. The body needs good sleep to function properly and when you workout regularly, the quality of your sleep improves. Also exercising may reduce risks of developing sleep disorders.

It Increases Self Confidence: When you workout and drop a few pounds you feel better about yourself that you actually did something for your own self. Exercising stops you from looking down on yourself and makes you believe you can achieve your weight goals, you can change how you look if you keep working at it.

It Makes You Happier: Exercising releases a special form of happiness. I’m happy when I’m working out and when I remember I worked out during the day. I’m not so happy when I had a lazy day and if I can get a little workout in later in the day, I’m always elated.

If you are new to exercising and don’t know how to start you can start slow by swimming often, doing yoga, taking a walk every day or every other day. Trust me, a walk does a lot and I wrote about the benefits here you can check it out. If you don’t like cardio, you don’t have to do it. The great thing about exercising is that there are so many types so there’s something for everyone.

Doing Yoga from The Ultimate Yogi Program

Exercising is so cool that you can do a high intensity workout for just 15 minutes and burn calories all through the day. Also, there are so many workout videos online to help you no matter the stage you are in.

When I finally decided to take care of my body more by exercising, I started with Shaun T T25 workout. It’s a structured program for 18 weeks divided into four stages so the routines progress as you advance. It wasn’t easy in the beginning but I pulled through. I was exercising five days a week and loving it all in the comfort of my home. Shaun T helped me a lot and I’m a huge fan. Look him up if you don’t know him. He’s a very good personal trainer.

With all this said, it is important to remember that exercising goes along with healthy eating to be truly effective. Your diet and lifestyle choices also need to be top notch to truly take care of your body but that’s a story for another post.

Why exercise? Because you love your body!!!! I hope I have convinced you to take better care of yourself if you don’t already.

Thanks for reading and don’t forget to workout today.

  5. As a soft tissue specialist, movement analyst and performance coach who runs his own clinic, I commend your honesty and subject matter.

I don’t often say this to many people and am not the type of person to usually comment. Spoken from the heart and you have my respect.

I have a recent post you may enjoy called “I used to be a body builder, before I grew up,” it’s a 6000 word spiel, but it deals more with the clinical element of soft tissue principality, biotensegrity and psychology rather than the generic outlook of “fitness.”

Give it a read some time if you are ever free. If you like it, if you agree with it, then let’s work on some online ideas together? I have a platform through my clinic and I’m looking for more people’s stories to be able to share for motivation, to help others.

If not…then take care and keep doing you!

From reading the comments on this feed you are obviously inspiring people, which inspires me.

  7. Shaun T is amazing and I swear by his workout programs. They really helped me when I wanted to get into shape. This is a really uplifting and positive article. Too many people connote exercise as negative. They look at it as a horrid task that they will have to endure if they want to be toned. When really, it has a whole heap of benefits as you mentioned here.

    1. Shaun T is just the best! That’s the reason behind the post. I’m hoping to encourage many people that don’t already exercise to start doing so.

      1. He helped me a great deal when I started out but I discovered later that walking is a great way to lose weight. If you can walk for one hour every day, you will see amazing results.
